The Pfälzerwald, or Palatinate Forest, is a large forested region in southwestern Germany, within the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Together with the adjacent Vosges in France, it forms the Palatine Forest-North Vosges Biosphere Reserve, designated by UNESCO in 1992, recognized for its ecological and cultural value. The Pfälzerwald is one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Germany, and it covers a substantial part of the Palatinate region.
