Pesulahuste formulations are provided in various forms, including liquids, powders, and concentrated tablets or pods, each tailored to different water hardness levels and washing temperatures.

Common ingredients in pesulahuste include surfactants that emulsify and lift soils, along with builders or water-softening agents that enhance cleaning efficiency in hard water. Enzymes are included to target proteins, starches, and fats, while bleaching agents provide whitening. Optical brighteners, dyes, and fragrances are often added for appearance and scent. In response to environmental concerns, many formulations avoid phosphates and instead rely on alternative builders such as zeolites, citrates, or polymers, paired with biodegradable surfactants.

Product forms and uses include liquid detergents, which are popular for everyday washing and low-sudsing performance; powders, which are versatile for various temperatures and soils; and single-dose pods or tablets, which offer convenient dosing. Industrial pesulahuste are higher-concentration formulations designed for large-scale laundering, with formulations chosen to protect fabrics and optimize machine performance.

In many regions, phosphorus content is restricted, and products must meet safety guidelines for handling and storage.
