Perturbres

Perturbres is a term used in some mathematical and physical literatures to denote externally applied disturbances or perturbing inputs to a system. The concept is used across disciplines to study how small disturbances influence the evolution of a model, its stability, or its observed outputs. Perturbres can be time-dependent, state-dependent, or spatially localized, and they are typically assumed to be small relative to the nominal dynamics.

In modelling, perturbres are often represented as a function P(t, x) added to the governing equations, and may be scaled by a small parameter epsilon: dx/dt = F(x) + epsilon P(t, x). In linear perturbation theory they induce first-order corrections; in nonlinear settings they can cause bifurcations or resonance phenomena. Analysts impose regularity conditions (boundedness, measurability, differentiability) and study properties like sensitivity, robustness, and response spectra. Common techniques include linearization around equilibria, averaging, and multiple-scale or asymptotic methods.

Applications include stability assessment for mechanical, electrical, and ecological systems; design of control strategies that compensate for disturbances; signal processing and noise modelling; and climate or economic models where external forces must be accounted for. The term perturbres is less standardized than the broader concept of a perturbation and may vary in meaning between fields; some authors use it interchangeably with perturbations or perturbing inputs, while others reserve it for a particular class defined by norms, support, or time dependence.
