Perlspecific
Perlspecific is a recently described species within the genus Prismatica, belonging to the family Primulaceae. The species was first identified in the montane cloud forests of the Peruvian Andes in 2023 by Dr. Maria Perls, who named it in honor of her mentor’s dedication to plant taxonomy. Morphologically, Perlspecific is characterized by its bright violet petioles, densely tomentose leaves, and small globose flowers that appear in mid to late summer. The plant typically reaches heights of 0.5 to 0.8 metres and prefers shaded, well‑drained substrates rich in organic matter.
This species is endemic to a narrow altitude range of 2,300 to 2,800 meters, where it occupies
Conservation assessments classify Perlspecific as Near Threatened due to habitat fragmentation from agricultural expansion and climate‑driven
