Parkimi

Parkimi is a town and municipality located in the coastal region of Veridia, along the Navaran Gulf. It serves as the administrative center of Parkimi Municipality, which forms part of Veridia's Navaran Province. The town covers about 38 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 12,300 in the latest census. The local government is headed by a mayor and a municipal council, elected to four-year terms.

Geography and climate: Parkimi lies on a sheltered harbor ringed by low hills. The surrounding countryside comprises small farms, orchards, and mixed woodlands. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild, wet winters and relatively dry, cool summers.

History: Parkimi originated as a fishing village in the medieval period and developed into a regional market town during the early modern era. The harbor activity expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries, supporting shipbuilding and commerce. Industrialization in the 20th century diversified the economy somewhat, while tourism gradually grew in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Economy: The local economy centers on harbor services, tourism, and agriculture. Small workshops produce crafts and light manufactured goods, while the waterfront provides fishing and ferry connections to nearby towns.

Culture and landmarks: Parkimi retains a historic town core with stone houses and arcades. Notable sites include the Parkimi Pier, the Old Town Gate, and St. Mary’s Church dating to the 15th century. The annual Parkimi Festival features music, crafts, and seafood dishes.

Transport: Road links connect Parkimi to regional highways; a coastal railway serves the area, and the harbor handles passenger ferries and some freight.
