Pari

In computing, PARI/GP is a free computer algebra system designed for fast computations in number theory. It provides a compact programming language called GP, support for arbitrary-precision arithmetic, and built-in facilities for algebraic number theory, elliptic curves, p-adic numbers, and modular forms. It includes interfaces to C, C++, and Python, allowing integration with other software. PARI/GP runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and many Unix-like platforms, and is used in research and education for exploratory computation, proofs, and algorithm development.

In language and culture, pari is a word in Italian meaning "equal" or "even," used in contexts such as pari e dispari to denote even and odd numbers. In media, Pari is the title of a 2018 Indian horror film directed by Prosit Roy, about a woman with supernatural powers.

In gambling, pari-mutuel describes a betting system in which all bets of a given type are pooled and payouts are distributed proportionally to winners, rather than being calculated from a fixed book made by a bookmaker.
