Pareignus
Pareignus is a genus of small terrestrial arthropods belonging to the family Pareignidae within the order Diplopoda (millipedes). The genus was established in 1925 by the German myriapodologist Friedrich Köhler, and its name derives from the Greek root “para” meaning “beside” and the Latin word “ignis” meaning “fire”, reflecting the genus’s characteristic iridescent coloration that resembles embers when viewed under certain light conditions.
