Parameeter

Parameeter is not a standard term in mathematics, statistics, or computer science. In most published material it appears primarily as a misspelling of parameter, or as a locally coined term by individual authors. Because of this, its meaning is not fixed in the literature.

Some writers may treat parameeter as a deliberate neologism to refer to a higher‑level control that governs how other parameters are chosen or structured within a model. In this hypothetical sense, a parameeter could be described as a meta‑parameter or a parameter of the parameterization method itself. For example, in a modeling framework that can switch between different parameterization schemes, a parameeter might select the scheme or set the rules for constraining parameters instead of assigning a direct numerical value.

Without an author‑defined definition, parameeter has no formal status. By contrast, a parameter is a quantity that defines the behavior of a system and can be fixed, estimated, or inferred from data. Hyperparameters are well‑established as parameters that govern the training or configuration of a model, distinct from the model’s learned parameters.

Usage guidance: in formal writing, use parameter. If you intend to introduce parameeter as a new concept, provide a clear definition at first use and explain how it relates to existing terms such as parameters and hyperparameters to avoid confusion.
