Pangakaardi

Pangakaardi is a term used to describe a payment card issued by a bank or financial institution that enables electronic transactions. A typical pangakaardi includes a card number, expiration date, cardholder name, and security features such as a magnetic stripe or EMV chip. It may be linked to a bank account, a credit facility, or a prepaid balance.

Types commonly include debit cards, which withdraw funds directly from an account; credit cards, which extend a revolving line of credit; and prepaid cards, loaded with a fixed amount. Many pangakaardi also support contactless payments using near-field communication (NFC).

Transactions are processed through payment networks such as Visa or Mastercard or local equivalents. The merchant’s terminal communicates with the issuer to authorize or decline a payment, often requiring a PIN, signature, or token. Online purchases require card details and additional verification in some cases.

Security features include personal identification numbers (PINs), card verification codes (CVV), and real-time fraud monitoring. Modern cards use EMV chips to reduce counterfeit fraud. Cardholders should protect card data, review statements regularly, and report lost or stolen cards promptly.

Advantages of pangakaardi include convenience, broad acceptance, and, for some users, rewards or cashback. Drawbacks include overspending, potential interest charges on credit cards, possible fees, and risks of fraud if data is compromised.

Regulation and standards are set by governments and payment networks. Issuers must comply with consumer-protection rules, dispute processes, and security standards such as EMV and PCI DSS, with liability arrangements for unauthorised transactions.
