In practice, palvelusilot can store a variety of bulk materials, including grain and animal feed on farms or industrial bulk goods such as cement or other bulk commodities at processing facilities. They are typically integrated into a broader storage or processing complex and linked to filling and discharge systems that support daily operations. Design-wise, such silos are commonly cylindrical or rectangular and constructed from reinforced concrete or steel.
