Palettenladung

A Palettenladung is a pallet load, a unit for transporting goods that are stacked, secured and placed on a pallet for handling and shipment. Pallets standardise the loading unit, allowing efficient use of forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors and container space. They simplify storage, inventory control and reduce damage during handling.

Standard pallet dimensions vary by region. The ISO 6781 “Euro-pallet” measures 1200 mm by 800 mm, while the US “GMA pallet” is 48 in by 40 in. Weight limits depend on the pallet type and material: a typical wooden Euro pallet can support 850 kg, whereas industrial steel pallets may exceed 3 000 kg. Pallets are usually furnished with a load-bearing underside, slats or corrugated sheets that distribute the weight and allow air circulation, reducing temperature gradients and moisture buildup.

Regulatory requirements for Palettenladung include ISO 9001‐based quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental control, and, in the EU, the Controlled Substances Act for hazardous goods palletisation. Trans‑European transport codes such as the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) require specific pallet covering and labeling. Shipping manifest data must record pallet dimensions, gross weight and handling instructions to comply with customs and safety regulations.

In practice, Palettenladung optimisation involves uniform stacking, minimal palletisation of units, and the use of tamper‑evident seals. Automated palletisation systems can achieve up to 80 % throughput improvement over manual loading. The use of standard pallets also enables interchangeability across carriers, reducing the need for repositioning and thereby saving time and fuel.
