Painomusteet
Painomusteet, also known as "weighted blankets," are heavy blankets designed to provide deep pressure stimulation. This technique, rooted in occupational therapy, aims to promote relaxation and improve sleep by applying gentle, even pressure across the body. The blankets are typically filled with materials such as glass beads, plastic pellets, or sand, which add significant weight—usually ranging from 5% to 15% of the user’s body weight. This added weight is believed to mimic the calming effect of deep pressure touch, such as a hug or swaddling.
The concept of deep pressure stimulation dates back to the 1980s, when occupational therapist Dr. Roger Mosnaim
