PEIlevyt

PEIlevyt are flat plates manufactured from polyetherimide (PEI), a high-performance engineering thermoplastic. In Finnish industry the term PEIlevyt is used to refer to these plates, typically when describing stock or finished parts used in machining, laboratory, or electronics contexts.

PEI offers a combination of high heat resistance, dimensional stability, chemical resistance, and excellent electrical insulation. It withstands repeated heat and sterilization cycles in medical-grade variants and maintains mechanical strength over a wide temperature range. PEI is also relatively rigid and has good wear resistance, making it suitable for precision fixtures and insulating components.

PEIlevyt are produced by standard plastic fabrication processes, such as extrusion or molding, and then machined to final dimensions. They are available in natural or colored forms and in a range of thicknesses from a few millimeters to several centimeters. Both unfilled and reinforced (e.g., glass-fiber reinforced) grades exist, offering higher stiffness where needed. Finishing options include milling, drilling, laser cutting, and surface treatments or coatings.

Common applications include insulating bases and fixtures for electronics and laboratory equipment, high-temperature spacers and supports, vacuum-system components, and other environments where thermal and chemical resistance are required. Availability is broad through industrial plastics suppliers, with PEIlevyt offered in standard sheet sizes or cut to order.
