P9

P9 is a designation used in several contexts to label products and technologies. Two of the most widely recognized uses are in consumer electronics and computing.

In consumer electronics, Huawei P9 refers to a smartphone released in 2016 by Huawei Technologies. It was developed in collaboration with Leica and is notable for its dual-camera system, which pairs a color sensor with a monochrome sensor to enhance detail and low-light performance. The P9 line also included related models such as the P9 Lite and P9 Plus.

In computing, Power9 (often abbreviated Power9 or P9 in some references) designates IBM’s POWER9 family of 64‑bit microprocessors introduced in 2017. The POWER9 CPUs are used in IBM servers and high-performance computing systems and are part of the OpenPOWER ecosystem, which emphasizes openness and collaboration in hardware and software development for data analytics, AI, and cloud workloads.

Beyond these, P9 is used as a model designation in other products and standards, but the Huawei P9 and the IBM Power9 are among the most prominent uses of the label.
