Outdoorfacing

Key factors include weatherproofing, protection from ultraviolet radiation, resistance to temperature extremes, moisture and corrosion protection, and vandal resistance. Power and connectivity must be reliable outdoors, using methods such as solar power, battery backups, power over Ethernet, or ruggedized wireless links. Mounting must account for wind load and ease of maintenance.

Standards and testing for outdoorfacing systems typically involve safety and environmental durability requirements, including IEC, UL, and CE markings, as well as adherence to applicable IP or NEMA ratings.
