Opintosuoritusote

Opintosuoritusote is the official study transcript used in Finnish higher education. It lists a student’s completed studies that count toward a degree at a Finnish university or university of applied sciences, including completed modules (opintojaksot), the credits earned (ECTS), grades, and dates of completion. In English, it is commonly referred to as a transcript of records or academic transcript. The document is issued by the degree‑granting institution or the student’s current institution.

A typical opintosuoritusote contains student identification data, the institution’s name, and the date of issue. It provides a detailed list of completed courses and modules with course codes, titles, credits, and grades, along with a summary of earned credits toward the degree and notes on degree progress or special conditions. Some entries may indicate retaken courses or adjustments to grades. The document may also show the expected degree and progress toward degree requirements.

Opintosuoritusote is used for purposes such as applying to further studies, seeking employment, visa and residence applications, or enabling international recognition of Finnish studies. There are official (virallinen) transcripts and unofficial copies; official copies are typically sent directly from the institution to a designated recipient. Most institutions offer electronic access through a student portal and provide English-language versions for international use.

Legal and privacy considerations apply: the issuance and content follow national regulations governing student records in higher education, and data protection rules govern access and dissemination. The opintosuoritusote is distinct from the degree certificate (tutkintotodistus), which confirms the earned degree itself rather than a list of completed courses.
