Oljenivået

Oljenivået refers to the amount of oil present in a system, most commonly an engine. Maintaining the correct oljenivå is crucial for the proper functioning and longevity of mechanical components. In an internal combustion engine, oil serves multiple vital purposes, including lubrication, cooling, cleaning, and sealing. If the oljenivå drops too low, moving parts can experience increased friction, leading to accelerated wear and potential catastrophic failure. Conversely, an excessively high oljenivå can cause issues such as oil foaming, which impairs its lubricating properties, and can also lead to seal damage.

Checking the oljenivå is a routine maintenance task for most vehicles and machinery. Typically, this involves using a dipstick. The dipstick is removed, wiped clean, reinserted fully, and then removed again to read the oil level against marked indicators, usually labeled "min" and "max" or similar. If the level is below the minimum mark, additional oil of the correct type should be added. If it is above the maximum mark, some oil may need to be drained. The frequency of checking depends on the equipment and manufacturer recommendations, but it is generally advised to check regularly, especially before long journeys.
