ORiga

ORiga, also known as Olga Vladimirovna Yakovleva, was a Russian singer and songwriter. Born in Moscow, she gained international recognition in the late 1990s and early 2000s for her unique blend of electronic music, ethnic influences, and often mystical lyrical themes. Her music frequently incorporated elements of traditional Russian folklore, as well as sounds from various cultures around the world.

ORiga's career began in the underground music scene in Russia. She moved to Japan in 1991 and signed with a Japanese record label, which helped launch her international career. Her breakthrough came with the album "Krasnaya Ryabina" (Red Rowan). She became particularly known for her contributions to soundtracks, most notably for the anime film "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" and the video game "Final Fantasy XIII." Her distinctive vocal style, characterized by its ethereal quality and powerful delivery, became a signature element of her music.

Throughout her career, ORiga released several studio albums and participated in numerous international music festivals. Her work often explored themes of spirituality, nature, and the human condition. She passed away in 2022, leaving behind a legacy as a distinctive voice in world music and electronic genres.
