Nordaar is a fictional northern realm in a fantasy world, characterized by a rugged coastline, snowy highlands, and communities built along harbors, rivers, and mountain passes. Its climate shapes its economy and culture, with long winters and short summers.

The name Nordaar derives from an old northern tongue, roughly meaning north-land. It is bordered by the Sea of Sorrow to the east, the Grey Spine mountain range to the south, and the Wyrdwood forests to the west. Frosthaven serves as the capital; Ironkeep and Silverport are key towns.

Nordaar emerged from autonomous clans that united after the Great Accord of 1680. It is a constitutional monarchy with a bicameral parliament; the monarch’s role is largely ceremonial, while an elected prime minister heads government. The Royal Council advises the crown, and the High Court interprets constitutional law.

The economy relies on timber, iron mining, fisheries, and shipbuilding, with growing wind and hydroelectric power. The population is about 2.5 million, predominantly Nordari-speaking humans, with dwarven artisans and smaller elven communities in highlands. Traditional crafts include carpentry, metallurgy, and boatbuilding.

Notable sites include Frosthaven, the Ironclad Fortress, and Glacier Gorge. Cultural life emphasizes winter festivals, guilds, seafaring, and craftsmanship. Contemporary issues include balancing development with forest conservation and addressing climate-related challenges.
