Nichijou

Nichijou is a Japanese anime television series produced by Kyoto Animation. It is based on the manga of the same name by Kaiu Shirai, which was published in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace magazine. The story follows the everyday lives of a group of ordinary high school students, though their routines are often punctuated by bizarre and surreal events.

The central characters include Yuko Aioi, a cheerful but academically challenged girl; Mio Nanasaki, a talented but often stressed student who secretly enjoys drawing manga; and Mai Minakami, a quiet and eccentric girl with a penchant for the absurd. Supporting characters include their robot classmate Nano Shinonome, who is unaware of her own artificial nature, and her creator, the child genius Hakase Shinonome. The series also features the dynamic between their eccentric teacher, Ms. Sakamoto, and a talking cat named Sakamoto.

Nichijou is known for its distinctive visual style, rapid-fire gags, and unpredictable humor, which often juxtaposes mundane situations with extreme reactions and absurd scenarios. The anime adapts many of the manga's short comedic sketches, blending them into a cohesive, albeit chaotic, narrative. The series has been praised for its creativity, animation quality, and unique comedic timing. It aired from April to September 2011, spanning 26 episodes.
