Navkanaals, also known as *Navkanāḷ* or *Navakāṇḍa*, refers to a traditional South Indian folk dance form that originated in the state of Tamil Nadu. The term "Navkanaals" translates roughly to "nine steps" or "nine movements," reflecting the dance's structured sequence of footwork and hand gestures. This dance is deeply rooted in the cultural and religious traditions of Tamil Nadu, often performed during festivals, temple celebrations, and community gatherings.

Navkanaals is characterized by its rhythmic footwork, intricate hand movements, and expressive facial expressions. The dance typically follows a set of nine steps, each with its own unique combination of movements, which are performed in a circular or linear pattern. The choreography often incorporates elements of Bharatanatyam, the classical dance form of Tamil Nadu, but retains its distinct folk essence.
