Naftare

Naftare is a sovereign island nation located in the western Gulf of Miraya, within the Varidian Sea. It comprises seven inhabited islands and a number of smaller islets. The capital and largest city is Aurel, situated on the main island. Naftare features a varied landscape that includes mangrove-fringed coasts, rolling highlands, and volcanic uplands, with a tropical climate that consists of a distinct wet and dry season.

Etymology and settlement history suggest the name Naftare derives from the Naftar language, with nafta meaning shore and tare meaning homeland. Archaeological and historical records indicate sustained maritime activity from ancient to medieval periods, followed by political consolidation. In the 20th century, Naftare transitioned from autonomous jurisdictions to a unified state and achieved formal independence in 1964, later adopting a parliamentary republic framework in 1997.

The transportation network centers on ports and inter-island air and sea links.

Demographics and culture The population is diverse, numbering around 2.4 million. The official language is Naftar, with several minority languages recognized regionally.
