The Nokia N97 is a touchscreen smartphone released by Nokia as part of its Nseries, after being announced in 2008 and entering markets in 2009. It was positioned as a flagship device featuring a large touch display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, running Nokia’s Symbian platform.

Design and display: The device centers on a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a 360 by 640 pixel resolution, accompanied by a slide-out full keyboard. The chassis is built with a sturdy frame, giving the N97 a distinct, workmanlike profile for a smartphone of its era.

Hardware and storage: The N97 includes 32 GB of internal storage and supports memory expansion via microSD cards. It provides connectivity through GSM/EDGE and 3G (HSDPA), along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The camera is a 5-megapixel module with Carl Zeiss optics and an LED flash, capable of still photography and video capture.

Software and services: The phone runs Symbian OS version 9.4 with the S60 5th Edition user interface. It shipped with Nokia’s Ovi services, including Ovi Maps for navigation, as well as standard applications such as email, web browser, and media playback. The N97 also integrated with Ovi Store for applications and content, reflecting Nokia’s emphasis on converged mobile services at the time.
