Nõelatüüpe

Nõelatüüpe refers to the various types of needles used in sewing and other fabric-related crafts. These needles are designed with specific characteristics to suit different fabrics, threads, and sewing techniques. The most common type is the standard sewing needle, which is sharp and suitable for general-purpose stitching on most woven fabrics.

For finer materials like silk or chiffon, a finer gauge needle with a smaller eye is used to prevent snagging and tearing. Conversely, heavier fabrics such as denim or canvas require thicker, stronger needles, often with a reinforced shaft to prevent bending or breaking. Quilting needles are typically longer with a larger eye, facilitating the use of multiple threads and easier maneuvering through layers of fabric.

Leather needles have a triangular or wedge-shaped point, designed to pierce tough leather without tearing the material. Upholstery needles are often curved, allowing for easier access to tight spaces when working on furniture. Embroidery needles are similar to standard sewing needles but often have a larger eye to accommodate thicker embroidery floss and a blunt tip to avoid damaging delicate embroidery threads. The selection of the correct needle type is crucial for achieving professional-looking results and preventing damage to both the fabric and the sewing machine.
