Mäntäkompressorit, also known as reciprocating compressors, are a type of positive displacement compressor. They operate by using a piston moving within a cylinder to compress a gas. The piston is typically driven by a crankshaft connected to an electric motor or an internal combustion engine. As the piston moves down, it creates a vacuum, drawing gas into the cylinder through an intake valve. On the upstroke, the piston compresses the gas, increasing its pressure, and forces it out through an exhaust valve.
