They are made from pine wood, a softwood known for its distinctive grain patterns and warm, light color. The production of mäntypaneelit involves milling pine logs into planks of various profiles and dimensions. Common profiles include tongue-and-groove, which allows for easy interlocking and creates a seamless surface, and shiplap, which provides a slight overlap. The wood is typically kiln-dried to stabilize its moisture content, reducing the risk of warping or cracking after installation.

Mäntypaneelit are used for a variety of applications, including wall cladding, ceiling finishes, and even as decorative elements. Their natural aesthetic lends itself well to rustic, traditional, or Scandinavian-inspired interior designs.
