Muwaqiq

Muwaqiq is an Arabic term that generally refers to someone who is knowledgeable about the timing of Islamic prayers, often referred to as Salah. This knowledge is crucial for Muslims as the five daily prayers have specific, time-bound windows during which they must be performed. A muwaqiq understands the intricate calculations and astronomical observations required to determine these prayer times accurately.

The determination of prayer times involves understanding the position of the sun relative to the Earth. Key prayer times include Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (noon), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night).
