Muotokokeilu

Muotokokeilu is a term used in Finnish art and design education to describe a phase in the creative process where designers or students explore possible forms and configurations of a product, sculpture, or space through hands-on experimentation. The focus is on form, visual language, proportions, material relationships, and spatial qualities rather than on final details or technical specifications.

During muotokokeilu, participants engage in rapid prototyping, material experiments, and iterative cycles to generate a broad range of form ideas. Common activities include sculpting with clay, modeling with cardboard or foam, constructing lightweight physical models, and combining sketching with digital visualization to test shapes and gestures.
