There is no single formal definition, and the term is used variably by creators and platforms.

Single-show format: A multipodcast may be structured with rotating segments—such as news briefs, interviews, and feature stories—within one episode, often hosted by the same or varying hosts. Network format: A producer may run a suite of related podcasts under a shared brand or RSS feed, enabling cross-promotion and consolidated distribution.

Production and distribution: In practice, multipodcasts may use one central feed to publish all segments or several feeds linked under a common brand. Metadata and episode numbering may be organized to reflect the combined format, while show notes may separate content by segment and episode.

Advantages and challenges: Multipodcasting can improve efficiency by repurposing content across segments, expand reach through cross-promotion, and simplify sponsorship deals. It can also complicate audience experience if listeners want a narrow focus or if episode-length and topic-switch timing are poorly managed.
