MountPunkte

MountPunkte is a mountain massif located in the northern sector of the Maren Highlands, within the fictional nation of Eldoria. The range rises to heights around 2,150 meters and features a serrated skyline of pinnacles and cirques. The name MountPunkte combines a borrowed English term with the local älric language, where Punkte is understood to mean points or spires, a reference to the summit’s jagged profile.

Geographically, MountPunkte sits at the junction of major fault lines in the Maren Highlands and is characterized by steep granite faces, exposed ledges, and several glacial cirques. The mountain consists mainly of metamorphic rocks with granite intrusions. The climate is alpine, with rapid weather changes and heavy snowfall in winter; summer months reveal a network of ridge routes and rock gullies.

Ecology: The upper slopes host alpine meadows with species such as edelweiss and alpine thyme, while the montane forest at lower elevations supports mountain ash and cedar. Native fauna includes the alpine ibex, chamois, and the MountPunkte rock wren, a bird adapted to ledge habitats.

History and cultural significance: European explorers first documented MountPunkte in travel logs from the early 17th century. It has since been a navigation landmark for local communities and a focal point for mountaineering clubs. The area around MountPunkte was designated a protected reserve to conserve its fragile alpine habitats and improve public access management.

Recreation and conservation: The mountain is accessible via three principal valleys and a paved road to the lower foothills, with established hiking trails and technical climbing routes on the northern faces.
