Motorneuronsyndrom

Motorneuronsyndrom is a neurological disorder characterized by the progressive degeneration of motor neurons, which are the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movements. This condition primarily affects the lower motor neurons, which are located in the brainstem and spinal cord, and the upper motor neurons, which are found in the cerebral cortex. The most common form of motorneuronsyndrom is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

The symptoms of motorneuronsyndrom typically begin with muscle weakness and atrophy, often starting in the hands and feet. As the disease progresses, these symptoms can spread to other muscle groups, leading to difficulty with movement, speech, and swallowing.
