Mjølner

Mjølner is the mythical hammer of Thor, a prominent god in Norse mythology associated with thunder, lightning, storms, and strength. Mjølner is described as a powerful weapon capable of leveling mountains and always returning to Thor's hand after being thrown. It is also said to be capable of blessing and consecrating, making it a symbol of Thor's protective role over mankind.

The creation of Mjølner is a significant tale in Norse mythology. Loki, the trickster god, wagered with the dwarf brothers Brokkr and Sindri that they could not forge three treasures as magnificent as those created by the sons of Ivaldi. Brokkr and Sindri succeeded, crafting Mjølner, a golden ring named Draupnir, and a boar with golden bristles named Gullinbursti. Loki, in an attempt to sabotage the dwarves, transformed into a fly and bit Brokkr while he was working the bellows. Despite this, the hammer was still forged, though its handle is famously depicted as being short due to Loki's interference.

Mjølner plays a crucial role in many of Thor's exploits, most notably in his battles against giants and other monstrous beings who threaten the realms of gods and humans. The thunderous sound of Thor's chariot is often attributed to Mjølner striking its enemies or the clouds.
