Miyan

Miyan refers to a Muslim community predominantly found in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, as well as in Bangladesh. The term "Miyan" itself is derived from the Arabic word "Mawla," meaning "master" or "lord," and was historically used as a title of respect.

The Miyan community is generally endogamous, meaning marriages typically occur within the community. Their social structure is often organized around kinship ties and village-based communities.
