Mitte

Mitte is a borough (Bezirk) of Berlin, Germany, located in the city’s central area. The name literally means center, reflecting its position in the historic core of the city. Mitte encompasses parts of Berlin’s old center as well as areas that were central to both East and West Berlin before reunification. It is one of Berlin’s twelve administrative districts and was formed in the 2001 municipal reform by merging several former districts.
