Minnecontroller

Minnecontroller is a family of open-architecture microcontroller cores designed for education and rapid prototyping of embedded systems. The project aims to balance simplicity with practical capability, offering a compact 8- to 32-bit core alongside a modular set of peripherals and a permissive software ecosystem.

Cores in the Minnecontroller family typically include an 8- to 32-bit word width, with on-chip flash and RAM sized for common educational boards. Peripherals commonly include analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, timers, PWM, and serial interfaces such as UART, SPI, and I2C, with optional USB or CAN. Many variants provide a cryptographic accelerator, low-power sleep modes, and a deterministic interrupt model. Debug support is provided through standard interfaces such as JTAG or SWD.

Toolchain and software are designed to be toolchain-agnostic, with support for GCC and LLVM-based compilers, GDB debugging, and a range of open-source development environments. Reference designs, firmware libraries, and educational boards are published to ease hands-on learning and rapid prototyping.
