Millisekunti

Millisekunti is the term used in several languages, including Swedish, for the unit of time equal to one thousandth of a second. The common symbol for this unit is ms. As with other SI prefixes, milli- denotes 10^-3, so 1 ms equals 0.001 seconds. The millisecond is an SI-derived unit obtained by applying the milli- prefix to the base unit second.

Historically, the need for finer time resolution in science and technology led to widespread use of the millisecond. In everyday perception, humans typically notice events in the tens to hundreds of milliseconds range; reaction times for simple tasks commonly fall around a few hundred milliseconds.

Conversions to related units are straightforward: 1000 ms = 1 s; 1 ms = 1000 µs; 1 µs = 1000 ns. The millisecond remains a practical and widely used unit for describing small but perceptible intervals in timing, measurement, and computation.
