Membrántechnológiákat refer to a group of separation processes that utilize semi-permeable membranes to isolate specific substances from a fluid. These membranes act as selective barriers, allowing certain molecules or ions to pass through while retaining others. The driving force for separation is typically a pressure difference, concentration gradient, or electrical potential.

They are essential in industries such as water and wastewater treatment, food and beverage production, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and chemical processing. Their advantages include energy efficiency, high separation selectivity, and the ability to operate at ambient temperatures, which is beneficial for heat-sensitive substances.
