Meelerööp

Meelerööp is a term originating from Estonian folklore and mythology. It describes a phenomenon often associated with supernatural occurrences or the influence of spirits. Literally translating to "mind groove" or "thought groove," it refers to a repetitive or obsessive line of thinking that is believed to be induced by an external force. This force is typically considered to be malevolent, such as a witch, a mischievous spirit, or even the devil.

The concept of meelerööp suggests that a person becomes trapped in a cycle of thoughts, unable to break free from a particular idea, worry, or obsession. This can manifest as constant rumination, an inability to focus on anything else, or even a delusion. It was believed that this mental state could be caused by various means, including curses, charms, or simply by an evil eye.
