In sculpture and ceramics, maskenform refers to a workflow where a plaster, silicone, or wooden mask is created first and then used as a reference or as a mold to shape the final work. This approach helps preserve particular expressions or anonymize the subject, producing works that emphasize form and contour rather than a precise likeness.

In theatre and performance, mask forms determine character and movement.
