Mammográfián

Mammográfián is the Hungarian term for mammography, a specialized X-ray examination of the breast. This diagnostic imaging technique is primarily used for screening for breast cancer and for diagnosing breast diseases. It involves compressing the breast tissue between two plates to obtain clear images from different angles. This compression spreads the tissue out, allowing for better visualization of abnormalities and reducing the amount of radiation needed.

Mammography plays a crucial role in early detection, often identifying cancerous lumps before they can be felt by hand or cause symptoms. Regular screening mammograms are recommended for women of certain age groups as part of routine health check-ups. Diagnostic mammograms are performed when a woman or her doctor has detected a lump or other changes in the breast, or if an abnormality was found on a screening mammogram.

The procedure is generally quick, though the compression can cause temporary discomfort for some individuals. The images are then reviewed by a radiologist who specializes in breast imaging. If any suspicious areas are identified, further investigations such as ultrasound or biopsy may be recommended. Mammography is a widely accepted and effective tool in the fight against breast cancer.
