Maitohampaista is a Finnish term that can be translated as "dairy teeth" or "milk teeth," referring to the primary teeth that develop in children. These are the first set of teeth that appear typically between the ages of six months and two years, serving as placeholders for the permanent teeth that will emerge later in childhood.

The primary teeth include 20 teeth: eight incisors, four canines, and eight molars. They play a crucial role in enabling young children to chew solid foods, facilitate speech development, and contribute to proper jaw and facial development.
