Maissiöljyä

Maissiöljyä is the Finnish term for corn oil. It is a vegetable oil extracted from the germ of corn kernels. The production process involves milling the corn, separating the germ, and then extracting the oil through mechanical pressing or solvent extraction. Refined corn oil is typically pale yellow and has a neutral flavor and a high smoke point, making it suitable for various cooking applications.

Corn oil is primarily composed of unsaturated fatty acids, with linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid) being the most abundant. It also contains some saturated fatty acids. Due to its fatty acid profile, it is often promoted as a heart-healthy oil, although it is important to consume it as part of a balanced diet.
