Magnetosztatigráfia is a branch of paleomagnetism that studies the remnant magnetism acquired by rocks during their formation and subsequent geological events. This remanent magnetism, often referred to as paleomagnetism, acts as a record of the Earth's magnetic field at the time the rocks were magnetized. By analyzing the direction and intensity of this magnetic signal, scientists can gain insights into various geological processes.

The primary goal of magnetosztatigráfia is to reconstruct the history of the Earth's magnetic field. This includes understanding the polarity reversals of the geomagnetic field, which have occurred numerous times throughout geological history.
