Maarajojen is a Finnish term that denotes boundary markers used to delineate the limits of land, jurisdictions, or administrative areas. They provide a tangible reference for property lines, borders between regions, and international or local boundaries, helping to prevent disputes and support land surveying and registration.

Markers take many forms. Traditional marker types include stones, cairns, wooden posts, and metal stakes. Modern practice often uses durable posts with inscriptions or coordinates, sometimes combined with fence lines or signs. In international borders, markers may be placed at regular intervals or at key boundary points and are documented in official treaties and maps.

Administration and legal status: The placement and upkeep of maarajojen are generally the responsibility of government agencies, cadastral authorities, or joint border commissions.
