Maapähkliteks

Maapähkliteks, scientifically known as Arachis hypogaea, are legumes native to South America. Despite their common name, they are not true nuts but rather members of the pea family. Maapähkliteks grow underground, a characteristic that distinguishes them from many other plants. The plant produces yellow flowers that, after pollination, bend downwards, and the ovary elongates to form a pod that burrows into the soil to mature.

These pods, commonly called shells, contain typically one to four seeds, which are the maapähkliteks we commonly consume. The seeds are rich in protein, healthy fats, and various vitamins and minerals, including biotin, niacin, folate, and vitamin E. Maapähkliteks are widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, with major producers including China, India, and the United States.

Maapähkliteks oil is another significant product, used extensively in cooking and in the food industry. Additionally, maapähkliteks are used in confectionery, as snacks, and as an ingredient in various savory dishes.
