MRtomográfia, also known as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), is a non-invasive medical imaging technique used to visualize internal structures of the body. It utilizes a strong magnetic field and radio waves to generate detailed images. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, MRI does not employ ionizing radiation, making it a safer option for certain patients and repeated examinations. The process involves placing the patient within a powerful magnetic field, which aligns the protons in their body's water molecules. Then, radiofrequency pulses are applied, temporarily knocking these protons out of alignment. As they realign with the magnetic field, they emit radio signals that are detected by the MRI scanner. Different tissues produce distinct signal patterns based on their water content and molecular environment, allowing for differentiation between various structures like soft tissues, bone, and fluid. MRI is widely used for diagnosing a broad range of conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, muscles, joints, and internal organs. It excels at providing high-contrast images of soft tissues, which are often difficult to visualize with other imaging modalities. The procedure is generally painless, though some patients may experience claustrophobia due to the enclosed scanner.
