MIDIteknologia, short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, is a technical standard that allows electronic musical instruments, computers, and other devices to communicate with each other. Developed in the early 1980s, MIDI enables the transmission of musical performance data, such as note pitch, velocity, and timing, between devices. This interoperability has revolutionized music production, enabling musicians to create, edit, and perform music using a variety of hardware and software tools.

MIDI messages are transmitted over a cable or wirelessly using protocols like USB or Bluetooth. These messages can control various aspects of a musical performance, including note-on and note-off events, pitch bend, modulation, and control change messages.
