MEMSantureiden

MEMSantureiden is the Finnish-language designation for microelectromechanical systems sensors, commonly abbreviated as MEMS sensors. MEMSantureiden are miniaturized devices that integrate mechanical elements, sensors, actuators, and electronics on a common silicon substrate, enabling compact, low-cost, and low-power sensing solutions.

These devices operate by converting physical quantities such as linear acceleration, angular rate, pressure, or magnetic field into electrical signals. Transduction methods typically include capacitive, piezoresistive, or piezoelectric effects. MEMSantureiden are produced with silicon-based micromachining techniques, including surface and bulk micromachining, and often incorporate CMOS circuitry for on-chip signal processing and conditioning.

Common types of MEMSantureiden include accelerometers (for measuring linear motion), gyroscopes (for angular velocity), and pressure sensors (for ambient or fluid pressure).
