Mönchen

München is the capital and largest city of the Free State of Bavaria in southern Germany. It lies on the Isar River north of the Bavarian Alps. The name München derives from the old German Münichen, meaning the place of monks, reflecting its early monastery origins. The city developed around a 12th‑century trading post and received city rights in the 13th century.
