Légzésritmus

Légzésritmus refers to the pattern and rate of breathing in living organisms. In humans, a normal resting respiratory rate for adults is typically between 12 and 20 breaths per minute. This rate can vary significantly based on factors such as age, physical activity level, emotional state, and underlying health conditions. Infants and young children generally have a higher respiratory rate than adults.

The rhythm of breathing is primarily controlled by the respiratory center in the brainstem, which responds to changes in carbon dioxide and oxygen levels in the blood. This involuntary control ensures that the body receives an adequate supply of oxygen and effectively removes carbon dioxide. When exercising or experiencing stress, the respiratory rate increases to meet the body's heightened metabolic demands. Conversely, during sleep or relaxation, it slows down.

Abnormal breathing patterns, known as dyspnea, can indicate various medical issues. These may include conditions affecting the lungs, heart, or nervous system. Examples of altered breathing rhythms include tachypnea (rapid breathing), bradypnea (slow breathing), apnea (cessation of breathing), and hyperventilation (deep, rapid breathing). Monitoring breathing rhythm is a fundamental aspect of medical assessment and diagnosis.
